Irish athletes have guaranteed podium finishes on seven consecutive days, demonstrating the strength and consistency of the team:
- Monday: McSharry secured a podium finish in swimming.
- Tuesday: Wiffen continued the streak with another swimming medal.
- Wednesday: Harrington guaranteed at least a bronze in boxing.
- Thursday: Lynch & Doyle claimed medals in rowing.
- Friday: McCarthy and O’Donovan won gold in rowing.
- Saturday: McClenaghan took home gold in gymnastics.
- Sunday: Daniel Wiffen added another podium finish in swimming.
The media has also highlighted Irish connections to other successful athletes, such as Hungarian swimmer Hubert Kós, who won gold in the 200-meter backstroke, and Siobhán Haughey from Hong Kong, who won multiple medals and is the grand-niece of former Taoiseach Charles Haughey. While their achievements do not count towards Ireland’s total, they add to the celebratory atmosphere of Irish-linked success.
