Halloween is right around the corner, and Dublin Zoo has something extra special planned for families this year! With a calendar packed with fun, spooky activities, and a “Kids in Costume Go Free” offer, it’s a Halloween experience the whole family won’t want to miss. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most out of your Halloween visit to Dublin Zoo.

Free Entry for Kids in Costume!

On the 29th, 30th, and 31st of October, children who come dressed in costume can enter Dublin Zoo for free, as long as they’re accompanied by a full-paying adult. This offer allows one child in costume free entry per adult ticket and is available both online and at the gate (just keep in mind that family tickets aren’t eligible for this promotion, and it can’t be combined with other offers).

Frightful Fun for the Whole Family

Dublin Zoo has crafted a fang-tastic lineup of family-friendly activities running from the 29th to the 31st, so there’s plenty to keep little ghouls and goblins entertained:

  • Spooky Trail: Wander through a spooky zoo-wide trail with hidden surprises around every corner. Keep an eye out for clues, creepy decorations, and possibly even some spooky critters along the way.
  • Face Painting in the Farmhouse: From 10 am to 3 pm, kids can head to the Farmhouse for face painting, transforming into anything from scary skeletons to cute pumpkins or their favourite zoo animals.
  • Creepy Keeper Talks: Throughout the day, zookeepers will be hosting special Halloween-themed talks, sharing chilling facts about some of the zoo’s creepiest inhabitants. It’s an educational twist on Halloween that kids are sure to love, with a little shiver of excitement on the side!

Pumpkin Making Workshops

This year, Dublin Zoo is offering ticketed Pumpkin Making Workshops for kids aged 4 to 15 at the Haunted House (formerly Haughton House). Taking place on the 29th and 30th of October, these workshops allow kids to get creative with pumpkin decorating and carving.

  • Ages 4 to 8 will get to decorate their own pumpkin creations with fun paints and stickers—perfect for little hands!
  • Ages 9 to 15 can join in on pumpkin carving, bringing their spooky designs to life.

In addition to the pumpkin fun, there will be a variety of Halloween-themed games and arts & crafts, especially geared towards keeping little ones aged four and under entertained and engaged.

Each ticket for the pumpkin workshops includes entry to the zoo, access to all the Halloween activities, and a uniquely decorated or carved pumpkin to take home. Tickets must be pre-booked, so hop onto dublinzoo.ie to secure your spot!

Dublin Zoo offers an experience unlike any other Halloween event. As children engage with Halloween activities, they’re also immersed in a world of wildlife and nature, giving them a break from screens and a chance to explore the beauty of the zoo in a new light.
